Adé Carrena made major waves in North Carolina, bringing a unique offering of Beninese food to the Raleigh area, through her food truck, Dounou. Born and raised in Benin, but adopted by a Puerto Rican family in the US at the age of 10, she has reconnected with her heritage by sharing food and culture from her native home.
Suya is probably the most popular street food across West Africa. It's a satay or kabob of any meat that we smother with suya spice, a blend of spices with a base of roasted peanuts which add a unique and undeniable flavor to the blend making it authentically West African. Use it as a rub, marinade, or toss it on your favorite dish for authentic, smoky deliciousness!".
